First Stanza: [Action/Written]

[The gentleman walking out of Community Building 1 does not live there, and in fact didn’t even walk in there in the first place. He’s dressed in a suit, tie, and trench coat and is tossing a fedora between his hands. Julian Bell walks through Luceti with a smile, as if this is nothing more than an exceptionally lucky day. He’s keen to explore and peers into every shop, sometimes actually going inside. The library holds his fascination for some time, and he’s delighted to find his own published books of poetry there (even if he’d admit it’s a faintly narcissistic pleasure).

He eventually sits down at the tea shop to read, looking for all the world like this is a vacation day and not the day after his death. That part, he’ll address once this actually sinks in.

At night, he’s at Cloud Nine, enjoying a Scotch on the rocks and a cigarette and listening to the music. For a crappy oppressed town, this place is doing very well!

Eventually, he works past an unusual (for him) nervousness and writes over the journals.]

Am I allowed to take any empty flat, or is that supposed to be assigned?

"I'm fairly non-discriminatory when it comes to my reading material. Makes it more fun, that way." She smiled. "Especially in a place like this, where you usually have more time than ways to fill it."
theoniongirl: (Aren't you adorable?)

"One of our new feathers, then. Welcome to Luceti." Shifting her stack carefully into one arm, she offered her hand. "I'm Jilly."
theoniongirl: (You know you love to laugh.)

There was something very familiar about that name. It nagged at the back of her thoughts...but names were far from her strong suit and she pushed it aside to consider later. Where names were her weakness, faces were her specialty, and she knew she hadn't met him before. "Nice to meet you, Julian. Been with us long?"
theoniongirl: (Aren't you adorable?)

[action] He's just that sort of boy

"And already at the library." She laughed appreciatively. "That didn't take you long."
theoniongirl: (What's that?)

"Cambridge, huh? You know, we-" She trailed off suddenly as she realized just where she'd heard that name before. Cambridge had been the key, reminding her of Guy and the fire and...

oh god, Guy.

Catching herself, her smile faltered for just a second before she tried to mask it. "We have quite a few people here from your corner of the world...though a few of them might surprise you." Actually, she had the feeling it would be more than a few. "How are you with the idea of mixed timelines?"
theoniongirl: (A ready ear)

"Luceti tends to be a bit flexible about time. As in...people from a lot of different years show up here. My best friend here is from England...but he's from right around the turn of the 19th century."
theoniongirl: (Try to resist)

With the conversation carefully directed away from any chance of Guy, she relaxed a little, laughing as she balanced her books on a hip. "I'm not sure that there's much to do about it...except trying not to step on too many toes when dealing with the differences." Her head canted to one side, her smile turning amused. "But it's not that much stranger than unexpectedly finding yourself in a new world, right?"
theoniongirl: (A drink and a meal...)

"That's no surprise. Not with everything so fresh." She gave him a sympathetic look. "Has anyone explained this place to you, at all? It's... a lot to take in, at first."
theoniongirl: (You know you love to laugh.)

"It is that." She smiled. "So...just like that. No questions in the aftermath of the guide?"
theoniongirl: (A quiet laugh)

She laughed in return, eyes glittering with it. How was it Guy had described him? Bright? She could see why. Not many responded to arriving here like he was.

"Of course. How terribly rude of me." She grinned up at him. "Planning to read until the sinking occurs, then?"

Once away from here, she'd have to check on Guy...see if he knew Julian had arrived. But she didn't want to just abandon a New Feather without warning.

"Seems like awfully heavy reading." Heavier than he might want to let on, knowing what she knew...
theoniongirl: (Wistful)

She nodded. "These timelines thing can get pretty tangled." It wasn't exactly a warning. She knew that he was going to read regardless. But knowing the future had the potential for all kinds of disturbing complications.

"Do you know anyone here? Have you met anyone from home?"
theoniongirl: (I can't quite look you in the eye.)

"No...it's just me." She smiled slightly. "But that's not exactly common. A lot of people here have at least one person from home with them...if not more."
